Job Description:

Davis Behavioral Health, Inc. is actively recruiting two (2) part-time Live-in Residential Managers/Recovery Support Specialists to work in the Begin Again Sober Living Unit.

The Recovery Support Program at DBH is committed to helping Davis County residents with substance use issues engage with a lifestyle of recovery. The Recovery Support Program assists clients in all levels of care in treatment with DBH. The selected Recovery Support Specialist will provide live-in residential management support, case management, personal recovery coaching, and peer support through group and individual work with clients. This position will be working with our Substance Use Clients residing in our Begin Again Sober Living Unit. This person will work with these clients linking and coordinating them to needed resources in the community as needed.

The successful applicant must:

  • Have at least one year of recovery, and have the state Certified Peer Support certification or be eligible to be certified.

Location

The Begin Again Sober Living Unit is located in Farmington, Utah. The Live-in Residential Managers are required to live in the recovery residence.

Shift/Schedule

The successful candidates will be scheduled 20 hours per week to provide Recovery Support Specialist services to the clients living at the Begin Again Sober Living Unit. The shifts will be during the graveyard shift Monday through Friday and/or any shift on the weekend. The two (2) residential managers will alternate being on-call available for weekday grave shifts and weekends.

Compensation & Shift Differentials

The starting hourly rate for this position is $17.00 per hour for the 20 hours working in a Recovery Support Specialist capacity.

In addition, the successful candidates' rent will be provided by Davis Behavioral Health.

Experience and Skills:

The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.

Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.

The Residential Managers at the Begin Again Sober Living Unit are required to be First Aid and CPR certified within 30 days of hire.

The successful candidate must be certified as a Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) by the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health. Candidates who meet eligibility requirements to become a CPSS (http://hsemployee.utah.gov/dsamh/cps/) will also be considered with the expectation that certification as a Targeted Case Manager (TCM) is completed within the first 30 days of employment and certification as a Peer Support Specialist is completed as soon as possible, but no later than 6 months after hire.

Requirements to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist include:

  • Have lived experience and be a person in sustained recovery for at least one year from Mental Health and or Substance Use.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have at least a HS diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications to become a certified Targeted Case Manager through the State of Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health include:

  • 400 hours of work, volunteer, and/or education experience in human services or a related field
  • Required 40-hour case management practicum and examination provided by DBH during the TCM certification class.

Preference will also be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Spanish.

The successful candidate must also have a clean driving record to operate agency vehicles and/or transport clients, when necessary.

Davis Behavioral Health utilizes an electronic medical record, which requires proficiency in computer-related skills.

Meeting monthly face-to-face service expectations and productivity standards is also required.
The successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, drug screening, and have a clean driving record.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients that have sever mental illness, are hard working, can work both independently and successfully within a small outreach team.

In addition, the following skills/qualities are required for the Certified Peer Specialist position:

  • Be a self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who can relate to others who are now using those services
  • Have personal experience and knowledge of recovery
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing
  • Be able to establish trusting relationships with their peers
  • Be able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Be able to work evenings and weekends
  • Have good knowledge of city’s public transit system
  • Be able to use computer to record services or be willing to learn
  • May need to be able to climb stairs when visiting individuals in their apartments/residences
