Dayton Area School Consortium is Hiring a Principal, Lagonda Elementary School Near Columbus, OH

Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Elementary Principal at Lagonda Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. The Springfield City School District values the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of our student body, faculty and staff. Our academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with a wealth of opportunity, including a 1:1 initiative and the YouMedia Center, which is a digital learning lab offering students activities such as 3-D printing, graphic design, and videography. As a Elementary Principal, you are required to:
  • Master’s Degree or higher, with a major concentration in Educational Administration and Supervision
    from an accredited institution
  • Valid Principal licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education
  • A minimum of two years related experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of computer and software, and an ability to learn and utilize educational platforms
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety equipment, precautions and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and multitask
As a Elementary Principal, you will:
  • Facilitates building-wide staff meetings
  • Facilitates and/or monitors BLT and TBT meetings and the RTI process and its implementation
  • Analyzes and uses data to improve school operations
  • Monitors multiple student data sources to develop instructional and intervention decisions to maximize student achievement
  • Develops and supervises faculty and staff by setting goals, providing regular feedback, documenting performance and conducting annual appraisals
  • Conducts instructional supervision and evaluation including classroom and teaching observations for assigned areas
  • Develops and evaluates the annual school plan; assuring its coordination with District goals
  • Completes all required monthly, quarterly, and annual training plansPerforms other duties as assigned by Executive Leadership
  • Drives the Classroom Walk Thru process
  • Drives the effective use of the Panorama platform
  • Ensures that state standards are taught and student achievement is assessed
  • Provides direction to staff and faculty to have all students achieve one year’s measured growth during the school year
  • Provides a wide range of tutorial and enrichment activities for students
  • Schedules and assigns students according to age and achievement levels
  • Analyzes Content Standards and curriculum priorities in the school and the district
  • Keeps current with K-12 Course of Study, the District’s scope and sequence framework and state standards/guidelines
  • Ensures that instruction is aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards and curriculum priorities in the school and the District
  • Interviews, hires, and ensures the appropriate training of staff and faculty
  • Responsible for the All Call process for the building
  • Responsible for building communication to staff and externally via mediums such as newsletters, general marketing, and all/mass calls.
  • Evaluates all school programs
  • Develops and maintains student standards for good citizenship and conduct
  • Implements negotiated agreements with all school employee units
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures
  • Maintains accurate accounting of approved appropriations of allocated building funds
  • Monitors expenditures of budgeted funds, requisitions materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Assures optimum student health and safety procedures
  • Oversees the revision and distribution of Student Handbooks
  • Updates emergency preparedness plans
  • Oversees proactive drills
  • Oversees the progressive discipline process for staff and faculty as outlined by District Office
  • Oversees and enforces the Time & Attendance policy for all staff and faculty
  • Coordinates services in the areas of Testing Coordination, Performance Data Management and Parent & Family Outreach
  • Ensures the coordination of technology and related repairs/issues
  • Manages the coordination and supervision of after school clubs and extracurricular activities
  • Communicates and interprets building policies, procedures and regulations
  • Completes all required monthly, quarterly, and annual training plans
  • Partners with District Safety Committee/Security /Threat Task Force/Law Enforcement/Ohio Department of Job and Family Services when/as needed
  • Attends all District Leadership Team meetings
  • Leads the District’s commitment to SEL
  • Supervises Counselor(s) and support staff
  • Mentors and supervises Student Support Facilitator
  • Involve staff in instructional/curriculum decision-making
  • Participates in parent conferences and student planning meetings as needed
  • Monitors threat reporting and response procedures
  • Reports suspected abuse, neglect, risk, or harm of child in a timely fashion with regard to the Mandated Reporting requirements and guidelines
  • Coordinate with District Communications on all media contacts
  • Oversees the student assignment, retention and promotion function(s) of the School
  • Works with faculty and students to reinforce a student discipline management system driven by the principles of PBIS
  • Creates and maintains the master schedule for the building
  • Endeavors to establish and maintain positive rapport with students, parents, and staff
  • Makes presentations to parents and the community as needed regarding school related issues such as achievement tests, course development, safety, school events, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What We Offer:
As a contracted employee, this position is assigned to work 228 days per year and 8 hours per day.
