Position Description

We're looking for a full-time, staff Assistant Controller, MC Projects to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in Stanton TN.

The Assistant Controller, MC Projects is primarily responsible for ensuring accurate project accounting and finance for the organization's large and/or complex projects while actively collaborating with Project Controls, Supply Chain, and other Project Support Groups. The role supports the Director role in monitoring, researching, producing financial analysis, reporting and directing all key financial data including Project Status Reviews (PSR's) for large/complex projects and other projects/opportunities as necessary.

As the Assistant Controller, MC Projects, here's the work you'll do:

  • Provides business management, insight, governance and oversight for all financial activities related to MC's complex projects across multiple lines of business. Coordination with project controls, field accounting, corporate functions (A/P, billing, A/R, treasury) for all financial aspects of a project to ensure that all contract goals and metrics are met. Will work with operations to ensure EACs and other project metrics are updated and analyzed every period.
  • Responsible for period close/financial results for large/complex project with focus on revenue recognition via appropriate accounting methods (i.e. - percent complete). Will coordinate with MC Finance team to prepare annual Growth and Profit Plan (GPP), quarterly forecasts and strategic plans for projects work. Variance analysis to GPP/Forecast for presentation to operations and senior leadership.
  • Key participation in the financial assessment of all client RFP / RFQ opportunities. Creates and maintains financial models including pro forma pricing to support operations activities, such as but not limited to, client contract bid and proposal analysis and pricing. Develops 'at risk' and other commercial contracting vehicles while assessing and applying known or anticipated terms and conditions. Assess contract, insurance, tax, ROI, cash flow risks, exposures and opportunities for opportunities.
  • Provides concise, timely, effective analysis and reporting of financial and operating performance. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of MC's project businesses financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting. Generate value added dashboard reports, metrics, and KPI's for the MC's Markets /line of business, client, site, and/ or project as required.
  • Primarily responsible for all audits related to a project - internal (year end audit), external (client and/or other agencies) and group. Will work with all parties to ensure audit requirements are fulfilled and responses are made in a timely and efficient manner.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Solid management skills; a proven leader in recruiting, training and developing a high-performing finance team. Strong interpersonal skills: The ability to build relationships, a good listener with outstanding interpersonal influencing qualities and a natural, effective consultative style. (Someone who is sought out for their opinions and counsel and who can forge and maintain close relationships across all constituencies.)
  • Proven knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Planning and Analysis along with a strong Strategic and Operational understanding of higher-level business decision making. Knowledge of Government cost accounting standards and FAR provisions.
  • Ability to clearly and consistently get information across in a timely and effective manner both verbally and in writing via multiple methods (i.e., presentations to groups both large and small). Demonstrates the ability to influence people and get them to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to consistently assess, isolate and prioritize critical issues while being able to interpret and convey variances within the business operations.
  • Ability to respond to multiple discipline requirements with financial guidance, recognizing the potential impact on the unit's results which include the understanding and evaluation of contract terms and conditions.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred, CPA a plus
  • 10 years' work experience, 8 years industry experience preferred, 5 years in a Sr. Finance Position, with demonstrated ability to deal large/complex projects
  • Travel Requirements: ~ 25% - 30%

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $122,800 - $184,200 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
