Davis and Plomin is looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to our Lexington, KY Office. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for schematic design, creating construction drawings, construction administration on design/build HVAC and plumbing systems and coordinating with the installation team, throughout central Kentucky.

We self-perform the installation of all mechanical systems we design, so team collaboration and coordination in the field is a unique opportunity for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform building heating and cooling load calculations for HVAC equipment sizing and design.

• Help manage RFIs and Submittals on design/build projects.

• Perform site visits to see the installation process to ensure design objectives are being met and to learn how to improve future designs based on constructability.

• Apply standard engineering design principles and methodologies as well as applicable codes in the preparation of construction documents.

• Lead conceptual and schematic design phases of projects to ensure design fundamentals meet client expectations and code requirements.

• Prepare design documentation including drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, etc.

• Prepare specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents.

• Assist in presentations to prospective clients. Participate in client presentations as needed

• Prepare proposals in response to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) including development of competitive pricing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• Professional Engineer (PE) designation, preferred.

• Minimum of ten years related experience.

• Strong aptitude in engineering design.

• Well developed, detail oriented organizational skills.

• Ability to work as part of a design team as well as independently.
