DAVENPORT ENERGY is Hiring a Team Leader (Area Manager) Near South Boston, VA

Position: Team Leader (Area Manager)
Location: South Boston, Virginia
The Team Leader has the operational responsibility for their assigned location. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, this position will manage operations of the location with accountability for employee safety, customer experience, operational efficiencies, and operating expenses.
Key Characteristics
  • Ability to manage and provide direct day-to-day supervision of 7-10 team members in the service and/or trucking and logistics industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety Management
  • Is responsible for all aspects of safety within the assigned location, including compliance with safety codes and policies.
  • Is a safety leader for his or her team, employing best practices at all times.
  • Trains employees and monitors compliance safety policies and procedures; accident avoidance and safety driving; consistently reinforces safety messages.
Customer Service
  • Leads in a manner that all are committed to focused on exceeding the needs of customers.
  • Seeks out and corrects issues that negatively impact the customer’s experience.
  • Notes excellent customer service and leads by example.
  • Active in the field when needed to address issues.
Operational Efficiency
  • Responsible for maintaining all required daily and periodic record keeping and system management of customer information to achieve service and delivery efficiency.
  • Ensures procedures are followed to complete daily work accurately.
  • Responsible for timely permit management local code compliance
  • Works closely with scheduling and planning staff to ensure that customers receive service and deliveries in a timely fashion.
Team Management
  • Plans, directs, and manages staffing and development of employees by effectively communicating company strategic goals; conducting effective and timely performance appraisals.
  • Works closely with the Director of Safety and Compliance to make sure that all team member training, licensing, and credentials are current and maintained.
  • Monitors Team Member performance and maintains periodic job performance reviews.
  • Works to build and maintain a professional Team that is a desirable and positive workplace.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with code enforcement officials, regulatory personnel, and permitting jurisdictions.
Education and Experience Required:
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Five or more years’ experience in a management role. Experience in the propane/Fuel industry is a plus.
  • Computer skills and Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are required.
  • A history of Team building and positive customer service.
