    Responsibilities
    • Collaborate with the Director of Equity and Learning Supports to develop and support an overall district vision for a district-wide integrated instructional program for grades Pre-K-12th.
    • Support Director of Equity and Learning and Supports in the integration and oversight of Special Education Services.
    • In collaboration with the Director of Equity and Learning Supports, district and building administration, ensure the implementation of a preK-12 continuum of effective and appropriate special education supports and services.
    • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding developing special education issues, changes in laws and case law for the purpose of providing excellent special education services.
    • Support the Director of Equity and Learning and Supports with ensuring the provision of a free and appropriate public education for children receiving special education services.
    • Collaborate with Director of Equity and Learning Supports and AEA leadership to ensure continued compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other state and federal guidelines
    • Collaborate with the Director of Equity and Learning Supports and AEA Leadership to resolve due process and state complaint issues.
    • Lead Medicaid Administrative Claiming process and direct billing of Medicaid-eligible special education services provided by the district, for the purpose of gaining fiscal resources.
    • Support the implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) across the school district and in each instructional support program in the district to achieve equitable supports for all students.
    • Collaborate with peers on the utilization of the Continuous Improvement Model to strategically gather data, analyze, set priorities, implement improvement, and be held accountable for the results, with a focus on disproportionality, equity, and closing gaps in opportunities and outcomes for students with disabilities.
    • In collaboration with the Director of Equity and Learning Supports, monitor the effectiveness of programming for special populations and provide recommendations and implementation support on necessary programmatic changes and expectations to ensure increased student achievement for special education students.
    • Support the Director of Equity and Learning Supports in the determination of annual staffing as well as staffing decisions through the school year.
    • Provide fiscally responsible recommendations and guidance for the use of special education funds.
    • Through collaboration, design and lead effective district-wide professional development strategy in support of inclusive special education, evidence-based programming for specialized grants, and other programs.
    • Attend professional growth sessions for the purpose of keeping his/her professional knowledge current with changing laws and regulations.
    • Performs related work as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in special education or similar field.
    • Valid license.
    • Administrator/ Special Ed supervisor endorsement with evaluator approval required or willingness to get within two years of hiring.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working within special education.
    • Possesses a deep understanding of special education law and best practices.
    • Possess outstanding interpersonal skills.
    • Leadership experience.
