Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

Sport Duties

1). Must demonstrate the ability to teach and coach young people in the fundamentals and techniques of Dance.

2). Must demonstrate desire to constantly improve the program and overall sports program at North High School.

3). Must demonstrate ability to motivate student-athletes to be the best they can be as a dancer and in the classroom.

4). Must demonstrate ability to communicate with all stakeholders including but not limited to administration, staff, students and booster club.

5). Support the strength and conditioning coordinator to ensure proper conditioning and weight training for our student athletes.

6). Must organize and host a parent meeting, and awards ceremony for entire program each year.

7) Must provide adequate supervision before, during and after practices/games.

School Duties

1). Must plan to monitor and evaluate student-athlete’s academic progress in and out of season.

2). Must lead by example demonstrating high character and solid moral background.

3). Must promote other programs at North High School and encourage to participate in other activities.

4). Must complete all paperwork to ensure proper communication with the Activities Office (transportation, eligibility and physicals)

5). Must be willing to organize fundraisers for Dance program.

6). Must work with Athletic Boosters in working concession stands throughout the year, and willing to attend one meeting per academic year.

District Duties

1). Must have a thorough knowledge of the athletic policy approved by the Davenport Board of Education.

2). Must understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests and grievances through the proper channels.

3). Must know the procedures for ordering and taking inventory of equipment.

4). Must be willing to accept other duties assigned by the administration.

Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV ? Yes ? No)

Be able to stand for long periods of time.

Be able to drive school vans to events.

Be able to lift / carry 50 lbs.

Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to insure that each child reaches his/her full potential

Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)

Experience with Dance /coaching is desired.
