Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
Responsible for the Music instruction for all students in grade 7-8 grade assigned to your classes.
Provide an enjoyable and fun experience in Music while following the District's prescribed curriculum.
Promote the Music program to parents and the community.
Share and effectively work as a member of a team, planning lessons together, monitoring progress and making modifications that meet the specific needs of all students.
Support the content subject areas through the Music curriculum.
Facilitate the implementation and actualization of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
Collaborate with grade level teams to support cross-curricular learning opportunities for students.
Use both formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and set academic goals for improvement and acceleration
Implement MTSS plans for any students needing Tier II or Tier III learning interventions
Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior to achieve a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom through support and implementation of PBIS/Boys Town philosophies.
Possible before and/or after school/lunchroom/recess supervision.
Participate in District and building-wide staff development activities and complete all assignments associated with the areas of study
Organize your classroom to create a neat and appropriate climate for learning
Incorporate the Life Skills, Olweus Anti-bullying, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and Second Step strategies into your classroom.
Communicate with and involve families as needed to support student achievement
Participate in peer coaching
Provide on-going instruction and practice for students in building-wide procedures
Assist with all other duties as assigned by the principal.
Successful candidate must be willing to support the rigorous Teaching and Learning Plan.
Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
