Dataspace is Hiring a 200: Data Engineer (Contract) Near Okemos, MI

Our client—one of the leaders in the health insurance industry—is looking for a strong Data Engineer to create pipelines that identify changed records (i.e., CDC), move data to a cloud provider, and then transform it to make it available for consumers. Ideal candidates will have at least three years of experience and strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

THE WORK: The work includes optimizing Data Engineering components, creating data pipelines and ETL workflows, and participating in a 24-hour on-call rotation in support of the platform.

LOCATION: The chosen candidate is expected to reside in Michigan and work onsite in Okemos, MI, two days per week.

MODE: This is a Contract Position, although our client requires the right to hire contractors after a period of service.

DURATION: The chosen consultant will be required for at least six months. This client has a history of extending strong players for multiple terms

REQUIRED: Applicants must be very strong in the following skills:

  • Database Platforms: Snowflake, Oracle, and SQL Server

  • OS Platforms: Linux OS and Windows Server

  • Languages and Tools: PL/SQL, Python, T-SQL, StreamSets, Snowflake Streams and Tasks, Informatica PowerCenter, DBeaver

  • Drive and desire to automate repeatable processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication, as well as the willingness to collaborate with teams across the organization.

DESIRED: In addition, it would be great if you had the following: 

  • Experience loading data from files in Snowflake file stages into existing tables.

  • Experience creating and working with near-real-time data pipelines between relational sources and destinations.

  • Experience working with StreamSets Data Collector or similar data streaming/pipelining tools (Fivetran, Striim, Airbyte, etc.).

COMPENSATION: $65-75/hr (1099 or C2C)
