Dane County is Hiring a Grants Manager Near Madison, WI

The Dane County Department of Human Services is hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Grants Manager. The eligible list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within the next six (6) months. COMMITMENT TO EQUITY & INCLUSION

DEFINITION
Ensure programmatic and infrastructure alignment of new funding sources for critical DCDHS services under the limited direction of the Planning and Evaluation Manager.
 
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Develop, implement and monitor a Return on Investment Process prior to developing new grants that actively test for strategic alignment, infrastructure support and sustainability; identify grant opportunities that align with DCDHS strategic priorities and programmatic needs; develop and maintain an inventory of currently funded grants the Department receives; lead grant application development and ensure coordination across the Department as needed; ensure the Director and management team are fully briefed on the grants in development prior to assuming detailed work on the grant application; develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure coordination in grant efforts across the Department; ensure all grants meet contractual deadlines for monitoring and reports; take the leadership role in developing County Board resolution language to authorize grants after being awarded; lead periodic grant performance briefing meetings with DCDHS program leadership and staff as necessary; compile quantitative and qualitative data to determine grant efficacy and comply with reporting requirements; maintain all grant files in accordance with grantor expectations.Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, economics, business administration/management, communications, public relations, journalism, graphic design, marketing or a closely related field. Must also have at least two (2) years of professional grant writing experience. Experience in grant administration and demonstrated experience in successfully securing grants. Must be proficient working with computers and related software including databases, word processing, and desktop publishing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit at a computer for periods of time. Ability to speak and communicate with various audiences in small and large group settings and able to set up presentation and display equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without an accommodation.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office environment and travel to alternative work sites.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant writing. Knowledge of public policy theory, public policy analysis techniques, and program evaluation techniques. Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern public administration particularly with local/municipal government and its functions and services including budgetary and administrative systems. Ability to work independently and with a team. Knowledge of professional marketing techniques and program promotional activities. Knowledge of community resources and needs. Ability to identify and analyze procedural problems. Ability to manage records. Ability to effectively present information orally and in writing; and to write clear, concise reports. Ability to coordinate community-wide public information programs and to develop and publish articles, brochures, etc. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County personnel and officials, government officials, the general public; and to act as a liaison with community based organizations, businesses and the media. Proficient in the use of computers e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.); spreadsheets and database software to conduct statistical analyses; word processing, database development, desktop publishing, print media design and knowledge of Internet site development; and use of standard office equipment.
