What We’re Seeking: DATCP’s Division of Agricultural Resource Management is recruiting for a Grant Specialist – Adv in the Bureau of Plant Industry.

Where We Are Located: DATCP is located in the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90, and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail, and service locations.

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee’s telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position Summary

This position independently performs accounting and auditing duties for the Bureau of Plant Industry. The primary focus of this position’s financial activities involves the financial risk assessment and fiscal management of multiple grants and state matching funds. In addition, the position will perform financial and office management work in support of the Division Operations Manager as requested. Duties include interpreting state and federal rules and regulations related to the financial management of state and federal funds from a variety of sources. This position also advises, assists and trains program and other financial specialist staff on proper financial procedures, systems and operational enhancements to gain efficiencies in financial analyses and recordkeeping.

Salary Information

The classification for this position is Grant Specialist - Adv which is in schedule-range 07-03 with starting pay of $30.00 to $36.00 per hour. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

  • Experience performing financial duties, such as accounts receivable, account reconciliations, invoicing, refunds, interpreting operating, project grants, and/or program budgets, etc.
  • Experience analyzing operating, project, grant, and/or program budgets against requests for payment, invoices, reimbursement requests, etc.
  • Experience extracting, analyzing, manipulating and/or presenting data (use of pivot tables, advanced formulas, PeopleSoft queries, etc.)


In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience administrating grants, either as a recipient or administrator, in the public or private sector in a professional setting.
  • Experience creating training materials, manuals and/or procedures.
