    Administration Center Danbury Public Schools includes 20 individual school and office locations serving 12,500 students and up to 1500 employees. As a senior member of our team, you will play a critical role in overseeing the LAN/WAN network infrastructure and ensuring the effective functioning of our multi-million dollar Technology Program, while assisting in the seamless integration of technology into our organization, creating an innovative and dynamic learning environment that empowers both students and educators. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, you will lead a team of Maintenance Technicians and Specialists while collaborating with other stakeholders to maintain a robust and reliable technology environment.
    The successful applicant for this Assistant IT Director will provide support to the Director and the mission of the technology organization, supervise IT team members district wide, and assume responsibility for certain technical components of the technology operation. Representative responsibilities and duties include:
    • Oversees the overall operation of LAN/WAN of the School District.
      • Evaluates, proposes and implements expansion of service.
      • Installs, configures, and supports Cisco/ Meraki LAN, WAN & Wireless network equipment.
      • Installs, configures, and supports Cisco Umbrella content filter and Cisco Firepower series firewall
      • Monitors incident & problem queues by using network monitoring tools and helpdesk.
      • Monitors network and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
      • DNS troubleshooting and configuration.
      • Serves as the primary source for resolving networking issues district wide.
      • Oversees issues related to connectivity across the operation
      • Takes appropriate steps to resolve service issues as and when they occur
      • Perform all hands-on tasks associated with supporting a network environment.
      • Engage with vendors to report outages and incidents.
    • Assumes the primary role in working with the district's outside Network Support Company, to address both large scale technology issues and the coordination on larger project based work undertaken by the vendor;
    • Assists district and building personnel in planning and deployment of appropriate software and firmware
    • Assists with eRate funded purchasing
    • Assists vendors with remote access to authorized systems
    • Assists with network architecture of new or existing DPS buildings
    • Plays a key role in any incident response and disaster recovery as needed
    Required Skills and Qualifications
    • MBA or Master’s Degree in related field required
    • 5 years experience working in a network environment, experience in an education-based environment a plus
    • 2 years demonstrated supervisory experience that includes evaluation, discipline and management, with knowledge of collective bargaining agreements workforce helpful
    • CCNP, CISSP or Azure Administrator Associate certification preferred
    • Knowledge of AWS, DUO and Azure preferred
    • Ability to work independently and ability to collaborate with team members and personnel at all levels
    • Strong communication skills
    • Curiosity for developing new strategies that serve the overall mission of the IT organization
    • Experience with long range organizational planning in technology a plus
    Terms of Employment
    This is a 12-month, full time exempt position. Annual salary $100,000-$110,000 commensurate with experience. Eligible to participate in all health and welfare benefit plans. Eligible for City of Danbury Pension Plan, in keeping with its terms and conditions.
