Dakota Molding, Inc. is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Near Fargo, ND

Description

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. This role will be responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. This role will function as the primary source of effective communication between the plant operations and customers. The Manufacturing Engineer will create and execute systems that will assure our customers’ requirements are achieved and maintained. 

1. Manufacturing Processes: Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training; improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency; prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members; analyzes and plans work force utilization, , and workflow, confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes; applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential; assists in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training; performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency; represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.

2. Production Support: Provide support, through capability studies, 5 WHYS methodology, testing, control plans, and other quality tools to aid in quality assurance of mfg. processes. The activities include supporting tool design, setup improvement, mistake proofing, and improve design for manufacturability. Be a leader in applying all “Lean” disciplines to the workplace; through the identification and implementation of new processes and technology. 

3. Execution: Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility. Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments. 

4. Relationship Management: Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance. Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the strategy. Communicate with personnel at all levels, internally and externally to the Company. 

Continuous Improvement:  Assist in providing leadership & direction to all employees, including management team members, in the principles, concepts & executions of continuous improvement. Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations to achieve results. Help develop & prepare tools, processes & policies pertaining to our methods & strategic/core objectives. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods 

Requirements

  1.  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is required. 
  2. Solid works /CAD experience required. 
  3. Experience in a production environment required. Rotomolding or injection molding, metal working, design, and plastics (materials) knowledge and experience preferred. 
  4. 2 years’ Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  5. Demonstrated ability to create standard work documentation for best practice manufacturing processes
  6.  Strong working knowledge of production processes and systems (including ERP). Strong working knowledge of the materials, methods and practices used in production operations
  7. Ability to organize and run work in a timely and effective manner. Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
  8. Strong inter-personal communication skills; can effectively convey ideas, methods, instructions. Effective oral and written communication skills. Professional communication and demeanor. Ability to present ideas, concepts, issues, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive, and professional manner to employees
  9. A track record of high achievement, exceeding goals and driving results.
  10. Advanced proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite.
