Job DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity available for a Data Governance Manager at our corporate office in Bloomington, MN. The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for leading IDQ’s corporate Data Governance Program from within the newly formed Data Governance Office. Partner with the data owners, stewards, information security, privacy, and Technology leadership teams to establish data policies, processes, and standards including enforcement of Metadata standards and data quality, security, and management concepts.
Key accountabilities include:
  • Partner with the data owners, stewards, information security, privacy, and Technology leadership teams to establish data policies, processes, and standards including enforcement of Metadata standards and data quality, security, and management concepts
  • Responsible for establishing and enforcing concepts of Certified data, ensuring it is fully aligned with the Data Classification Standard
  • Lead all aspects of engagement with the data stewards to understand requirements and support capturing of business metadata, data lineage, data classification, and data quality
  • Develop and track metrics to measure the success of data governance activities and present to senior leadership
  • Facilitate Data Policy Workgroups to enhance enterprise-level data policies (i.e. Data Classification, Storage, Retention Policies)
  • Create DG-related training/onboarding material
  • Lead Change Management efforts across the organization
Qualifications
Education/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience in Data Governance Program
  • Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing cross-functional teams and resources
  • Hands-on experience with Data Governance Technology (i.e., building an enterprise data catalog, ideally in Purview or Unity Catalog) (including but not limited to building & maintaining Data Dictionaries, Business Glossaries, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence without authority
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Competent in data management & architecture best practices and standards
  • Experience in Data Quality management, technology, and framework design
  • Experience in end-user computing mitigation & data authorization
  • Experience in advising on and maintaining data policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Experience in working with or acting in Data Stewardship role
  • Experience in building and delivering training
  • Experience in leading Data Committees or Workgroups
  • Experience in educating corporations on Data Governance best practices
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure Data Analytics Technology stack
  • Experience in T-SQL / Spark SQL or Power BI / Excel for basic data analysis for data quality issue investigation
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics Technology stack
  • Experience in educating corporations on Data Governance best practices
  • Knowledge of Purview Compliance Manager Information Protection and sensitivity labelling
  • Experience in collaborating with the firm’s data privacy and cyber security teams to ensure our data policies comply with data privacy and security

Work EnvironmentMost positions located out of our global headquarters in Bloomington, MN will work a hybrid work schedule where you will work 2 collaboration days a week. Additional in office time may be required to support team/project needs. Positions will be identified as “remote eligible” when consideration will be given to candidates outside of drivable distance to our Bloomington office.
