Job Title:Specialist, Instructional Designer – P5

Department:USG People – People Development

Reports to:Senior Instructional Designer

Work Location:Bethesda, Maryland

Position Overview

The USG People Development team is responsible for translating USG needs and business priorities into learner-centric solutions which engages target audiences, while addressing critical skill and knowledge gaps.As part of this team, the Instructional Designer is expected to partner with other People Development team members and business unit subject matter experts to facilitate the analysis, design, development, and implementation of a variety of learning initiatives that may include instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and e-learning methods.

The ideal candidate thrives in solving challenging problems and has a knack for making even the most complex topics seem simple to master. They should be able to complete projects independently and be comfortable with and open to feedback from their immediate team, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders. In addition, they are an enthusiastic educator and willing to take risks to drive impact in a fast-changing, operational, and technical environment.

This is a full-time position. Work authorization in the United States is required.

Responsibilities

·Use instructional design principles to design, develop, and revise interactive learning content including hands-on scenarios, graphics, and valid/reliable assessments.

·Creates a variety of learning solutions to include eLearning courses, micro-learning, demonstrations, simulations, videos, scenarios, case studies, exercises, workbooks, instructor and participant guides, PowerPoint decks, scripts, quick references, job aids, and knowledge checks. Learning solutions may be used for asynchronous and / or synchronous delivery.

·Creates storyboards for e-Learning courses to include scripts, scenarios, visuals and interactive elements used to engage and enhance the learner experience.

·Uses Articulate 360, Camtasia and cloud-based animation software (like Powtoons or Vyond) to develop engaging and effective learning solutions.

·Supports development of activities for Business Unit retreat and possibly present materials at a retreat as needed.

·Establishes, influences, and communicates guidelines and recommendations for processes and procedures related to instructional design, content development, and project management of learning solutions.

Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements:

·Grade P5: A minimum of 4 years of learning design experience using ADDIE or similar instructional design methodology, preferably in a corporate environment, and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

·Ability to design impactful learning experiences for various delivery environments, both synchronous and asynchronous.

·Demonstrated design skills in Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline) and MS PowerPoint with a portfolio demonstrating the processes used to design and develop training materials.

·Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to diverse audiences.

·Ability to transform complex topics into simple, concise, and clear learning solutions.

·Demonstrated ability to create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.

·Experience meeting 508 compliance guidelines and creating inclusive learning solutions.

·Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.

·Drive for results orientation with proven experience in managing multiple tasks and staying flexible in a dynamic and changing environment with competing priorities.

·Highly motivated, self-starter who can work well under minimal supervision, as well as take a proactive approach in being team-oriented.

·Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.

·Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates, or may wish to operate, barring times when DAI Global Security has deemed travel unsafe.

·Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred, but not required:

·Instructional design and/or e-learning certificates, from a trusted industry source such as ATD.

·Demonstrated experience working in international development sector.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $ 82,417 to $ 96,962. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs. 

Eligible U.S. based employees will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, and parental leave, as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.

For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on location.
