Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electronic Reliability Technician I supports the reliability improvement program and helps drive toward creating long term value by safely improving the tool reliability. You will participant in implementing strategies, affecting culture, and building resilience in our system that will result in increased reliability and operability of the control units for rotary steerable tools and lab/testing equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Execute qualification and reliability testing to agreed-upon qualification test plans. Perform required stress tests, bench tests and lifetests.
  • Collect and organize data for analysis, identify pass/fail status, and communicate results to Reliability Manager.
  • Follow agreed test procedures. Provide feedback to improve test procedures (work instructions), fixtures, processes, as needed.
  • Troubleshooting of complex issues
  • Perform visual inspection of electro-mechanical assemblies of Control Units for Rotary Steerable tools
  • QA/QC PSU & CPU boards for solder cracks and imperfections under microscope
  • Test PSU and CPU boards to determine if they need repairs
  • Document and correct deficiencies identified during development and testing processes
  • Soldering of male & female rotary connector and other board components
  • Testing boards on test box and perform functionality test
  • Partial knowledge of analyzing data
  • Observes safe working practices, follows rules and regulations, wears all personal protective equipment as required and reports hazards immediately
  • Perform additional related tasks as may be deemed necessary from time to time by management

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

To apply you must meet the following criteria:

REQUIRED:

  • An associate degree in Electronics, Industrial Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or a high school diploma and minimum 5-years’ experience in electronics testing, design, analysis or in application of industrial instrumentation and programming.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in maintenance involving oilfield tools; experience maintaining Wireline or MWD/LWD tools is preferred
  • Minimum 5-years of experience with high temperature soldering to assemble PCBs and wiring skills is a major key experience for this job
  • Minimum 4-years of electronic and hydraulic circuits knowledge
  • Minimum 4-years of advanced sensor protocol and advanced wiring knowledge
  • Experience with qualification testing and stress tests such as HTOL, HTS, biased Damp Heat, TC, TS, CTS, CMR, Vibration, Mechanical Shock, ESD.
  • Experience in R&M side of downhole directional tools.
  • IPC-610 & IPC J-STD certified
  • The ability to learn, to process thoughts and apply knowledge, to analyze and reason, and to evaluate and make appropriate decisions to achieve business goals and solve problems with a certain degree of creativity and latitude. Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to understand technical documentation, drawings, wiring charts and operating instructions
  • Ability to work in shifts and overtime (weekends and some holidays included) as required, be flexible in working requirements as the needs of the business dictate.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fluid environment, bearing high levels of responsibility and accountability while keeping the best interests of the business in sight. An attention to detail, able to prioritize workload but be flexible to adjust to changing deadlines and work independently with little supervision or as a team.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct in performing all duties and the ability to work well with all levels of employees or customers while being service oriented and having a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in the English Language fluently. Have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and have Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, and copier/printer/scanning machine.
  • Attention to detail, neat and organized, always keeping Safety First.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to travel domestic and abroad for extended periods of time when required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk while wearing the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment when required (i.e. safety glasses or side shields, closed toe shoes, steel-toe footwear, etc.); sit and/or stand for long periods of time; 8 – 12 hours a day, frequently lifting up to forty-five (45) pounds without assistance and anything over forty-five (45) up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance. Frequent carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects over one hundred (100) pounds with proper equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
