The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Assist the pipe layer with the installation of pipe for underground utilities; water mains, sewer mains and storm drains.
• Handling and moving materials.
• Compact fill below, around and above pipe installation.
• Hand-shape pipe bedding for proper elevation and alignment.
• Dig by hand to expose existing pipe and/or utilities in trench area.
• Inspect pipe to ensure proper joining can be achieved.
• Use hand tools such as cut off saw, wrenches, tampers, pumps lasers, levels.
• Install dewatering systems; sumps, Kelly wells, well points and sock drains.
