Essential duties include (but are not limited to):
· Conduct thorough inspections of housing units and properties enrolled in the Project-Based Voucher Program, ensuring compliance with program requirements, local building codes, and safety standards.
· Types of Inspections: The Housing Inspector I is tasked with the following types of inspection(s):
o Annual Inspections: Conduct annual inspections as assigned by the Inspections Supervisor or the Inspections Department site staff. These inspections are integral to maintaining the ongoing compliance and quality of the housing units.
· Communicate inspection findings and recommendations clearly and professionally to property owners, tenants, and relevant stakeholders, ensuring compliance with program requirements and regulatory standards.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HUD regulations, local ordinances, and industry best practices related to housing inspection and quality assurance.
· Attend meetings with the Inspections Supervisor and team members to discuss inspection strategies, performance metrics, and program updates.
Qualifications/Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 1 year of experience performing housing-related inspections or fieldwork, with demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying HUD regulations and guidelines.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
· Proficiency in using inspection software and other technology tools to facilitate inspection processes and documentation or the ability to learn the applicable software and technology tools within 90 days of hire.
· Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all aspects of work.
