Job Description:

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Vice President, strategically directs HRIS and College-wide Total Rewards Program including Compensation, Benefits, Well-Being, and Leave Administration. Serves as a consultant and technical expert to executive leadership in areas of responsibility. Continuously identifies opportunities to create efficiencies and implements improvements, and ensures compliance with laws and regulations. Responsible for managing the performance and development of assigned teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the day-to-day operations, performance and strategic direction of Total Rewards and HRIS teams
  • Leads the design and implementation of short and long-term strategic programs
  • Regularly engages in the operations of other HR areas including Employee and Labor Relations, Talent Acquisition, and Talent and Organizational Development
  • Works collaboratively with HR and College Leadership
  • Hires, leads, supports and mentors assigned team members
  • Coordinates Total Rewards and HRIS recommendations regarding employee benefits coverage, compensation, etc., and improvement of options that focus on quality of life for employees and support the recruitment and retention of a high-quality workforce
  • Ensures all operations follow professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements as it relates to HR operations and services
  • Directs the analyses of workforce demographics, industry trends and other relevant Total Rewards data to ensure market competitiveness
  • Serves as HR technical consultant and expert to leadership, and key contact with consultants and vendors on various matters and systems
  • Analyzes and evaluates initiatives for cost control and risk assessment factors
  • Reviews performance metrics and evaluation of existing programs and services to ensure continued efficiency and effectiveness
  • Researches best practices and recommends revisions in alignment with HR’s philosophy and business objectives
  • Leads implementation of innovative HR technologies across department
  • Serves as custodian of employee records and data
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training and workshops applicable to HR and assigned areas
  • Ensures all expenses are budgeted correctly and actual expenses do not exceed plan
  • Serves as an advisor and key contributor to Employee and Labor Relations during labor meetings, grievances, negotiations, etc.
  • Oversees HR operations on behalf of the Vice President
  • Performs other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, IT, or related field
    • Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources including Total Rewards and HRIS
  • Demonstrated experience effectively utilizing Human Resource Information Systems
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, training, developing, scheduling, supervising and managing the work performance of others
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness requiring dynamic and analytical problem-solving methods in a variety of situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of Total Rewards theories, concepts and practices with the ability to apply in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of vendor selection through request for proposal processes
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of human resources information systems
  • Possess excellent knowledge of federal, state, and other relevant laws and regulations related to human resources, specifically compensation, benefits, well-being and HRIS programs
  • Possess strong supervisory and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively in complex business situations
  • Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience in higher education
  • Professional designation as a Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets
  • Demonstrated experience in a collective bargaining environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing worksite wellness programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing a Human Resources Information System
