Custom Wood Products, Inc is a manufacturing company with facilities in Kansas and Missouri specializing in Custom Cabinetry and Storage Solutions. As a growing leader, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Logistics Operations Manager to oversee our shipping, receiving, and transportation operations.

As the Logistics Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of logistics and transportation operations at our Kansas facility. You will collaborate with managers at other locations to ensure alignment of logistics strategies and standards. In addition, you will work closely with department supervisors to ensure that products meet quality standards prior to loading and shipping.

Responsibilities:

Logistics Management:

  • Supervise shipping and receiving staff at the Kansas facility.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Manage a team of employee drivers responsible for local and out-of-state routes, ensuring they are kept up to date with their licensing and credentials.
  • Oversee the maintenance of driver logbooks to ensure compliance with DOT and company policies.
  • Develop and implement procedures for accurate inventory management and order fulfillment.
  • Identify backhaul opportunities to optimize vehicle utilization and reduce transportation costs.

Quality Assurance and Product Management:

  • Work with department supervisors to ensure that products meet quality standards prior to loading and shipping.
  • Manage the staff responsible for final assembly of products, instilling a passion for quality and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Expedite repairs or replacements of products prior to shipping while maintaining the original shipping schedule.
  • Collaborate with production and quality control teams to resolve any issues affecting product quality.

Fleet and Vehicle Management:

  • Make decisions regarding owning or leasing delivery vehicles based on cost analysis and operational needs.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Negotiate contracts with transportation providers, leasing companies, and maintenance service providers.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are well-maintained and equipped with necessary safety equipment.

Strategy and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with managers at other locations to ensure alignment of logistics strategies and standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Analyze transportation data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as carriers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in logistics and transportation management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in logistics and transportation management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as ERP and transportation management systems.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Passion for quality and a commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction.
