OpportunityCurley & Pynn is seeking a motivated public relations intern who will support our mission to be essential partners with our clients.
The goal of our internship program is to provide students with the opportunity to use as many public relations and marketing communications tools as possible in a real-world setting. Nothing beats on-the-job training, and we want our interns to explore and discover the practical applications of the field they’ve been studying.
The public relations intern plays a critical role on our client account teams, executing tailored public relations and marketing communications tactics. These self-starters apply our strategic approach to research, writing, media relations and monitoring, event coordination and more, working efficiently to achieve client objectives.

Responsibilities• Writing news releases, newsletter articles, pitches, social media posts and other content.
• Conducting online and traditional research.
• Coordinating and staffing special events.
• Developing media lists, pitching and documenting press coverage.
• Brainstorming concepts and designing marketing collateral.
Required Skills & Qualifications• Seeking a degree (or being a recent graduate) in public relations, journalism or a related program.
• Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) Style.
• Confidence to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work respectfully with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to complete assignments on time while juggling multiple projects.
• Accuracy in the execution of detail-oriented tasks.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications• Previous internship experience (prior experience at a public relations agency is a plus).
• Understanding of the news media and what makes a story newsworthy.
• Certificate in Principles of Public Relations.
• Student membership in the Public Relations Society of America, Florida Public Relations Association or similar professional associations.
• History of community volunteering.
• Familiarity with tools for project management (Asana, Harvest), media relations (Meltwater), marketing (MailChimp), and/or graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
Benefits of Interning at Curley & Pynn• Compensation: Receive $12/hour for hours worked above time required for credit, up to 20 paid hours per week.
• Hybrid Work Schedule: Work in the office Monday-Wednesday, with the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday. Plus, log off on Fridays at 3 p.m.
