Cumberland Valley High School is Hiring a Humanities Teacher Near Mechanicsburg, PA
New Teacher Training: August 8-14, 2024
Position requires an active and valid Middle-Level (4-8) or Secondary (7-12) PA certification in English, Social Studies, or Reading Specialist. Previous experience as a Middle School Teacher is preferred. Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the physical and psychological aspects of secondary-school aged students and good communication skills. Must understand and be able to teach the approved curriculum. The professional candidate(s) selected for this assignment understands and agrees that they may be required to teach in a blended or online format as requested by administration.This position will lauch a new pilot course for 8th graders called BRIDGE (Brainstorm, Reflect, Investigate,
Discover, Grow, Experience). This course is the BRIDGE connecting individual content skills to broader applications. Through reading in multiple media, students will investigate a personal interest. Students will engage in the research process by collecting and evaluating sources while reflecting on their experiences. The course culminates with students sharing their discoveries and conclusions to a wider audience in formats that match their personal strengths.
Knowledge of student development at the secondary school level is essential. Experience incorporating technology seamlessly into lessons is desired. The ability to develop instructional groups and deliver a comprehensive instruction based on the needs of the students using student data is a must. Willingness to work as part of a team is required.
