Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home is Hiring a Youth Care Specialist Trainer/Coach Near Denton, TX

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the Staff Trainer/Coach is to coordinate new employee and annual employee training, facilitate assigned training, maintain training files and provide coaching and additional training support to Youth Care Specialists as requested by Cottage Supervisors and/or CRP Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, or related field (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience working with the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services (DFPS) or related experience with youth in foster care (preferred)
  • Experience facilitating group training and/or education.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Professional demeanor
  • Cultural Competence
  • Fluent in English (bilingual skills preferred)
  • Ability to work within a team and multi-task
  • Knowledge of word, PowerPoint, excel, and Microsoft office
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must pass all Texas Department of Family Protective Services’ background checks

RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

As Training Coordinator:

  • Coordinate new employee and annual training
  • Ensure a variety of quality training both with external and internal facilitators\
  • Ensure training meets the varied learning needs for adult learners and is responsive to feedback from staff, Cottage Supervisors and CRP Program Director
  • Develop new training based on agency needs.
  • Facilitate SAMA and other trainings as assigned
  • Maintain training files meeting all contract and licensing requirements for documentation and required hours and topics for training.
  • Respond to audit requests for training compliance.
  • Track training hours and expiration dates for training and ensure compliance with the assistance of Chief Program Officer, CRP Director and Cottage Managers to communicate directly with their staff.
  • Be a resource to CRP Supervisors and CRP Director for training and coaching needs for individuals or cottages.

ORGANIZATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of CYFS Mission and philosophies, knowledge of and adherence to company’s policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards. Continually seeks to enhance professional knowledge base and improve personal, team and program performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds infrequently.
  • Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 75% of the day; sitting 25%of the day.
  • The employee is regularly required to speak or hear may bend, stoop, reach and grasp as necessary. Work in an office environment in a seated position and the noise level is usually moderate.
