Become a Transportation Planner in the Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) inside our Planning & Inspections Department and be part of the mission of managing the 3-C (Continuing, Comprehensive, and Cooperative) transportation planning and programming process for the area including the City of Fayetteville, Town of Hope Mills, Town of Spring Lake, Town of Eastover, Fort Liberty Military Reservation, and portions of Cumberland, Harnett, and Hoke Counties.
Participates in the analysis and development of user-friendly information to describe the Fiscally Constrained Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and its elements, and the Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP)
Prepares maps, graphs, charts and other graphic illustrations to support studies and program related activities
Prepares ordinances, regulations, and other public policies/directives which support the activities of the assigned program for review
Performs and participates in short and long range studies concerning the planning of transportation facilities and services and their impact on the study area’s transportation network, land use, and air quality under the guidance of the Executive Director
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in urban or regional planning, geography, public administration, engineering, community development, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in transportation planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management Preference
AICP certification is preferred.
Negative drug screen and background check are required.
Knowledge of the County’s transit programs including bus service and operations and other ordinances and codes, especially in the assigned program area
Knowledge of the principles and practices of community and economic development and public sector transportation planning
Knowledge of governmental laws, programs, and services pertinent to the transportation planning processes; working knowledge of the environmental and socio?economic implications of the transportation planning process
Knowledge of ArcGIS, Remix and other related software applications and systems; and hardware and peripherals use in the transportation planning roles
Skilled in the collection, analysis, and presentation of technical data and planning recommendations
Skilled in conflict resolution, meeting facilitation, and public presentations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community groups, federal, State, regional, County officials, and the general public
Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and studies;
