This is the first level of the 9-1-1 Operations series responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public, emergency services providers and other public safety agencies requesting police, fire, medical or other emergency services. They are responsible for efficiently and accurately gathering information and making the appropriate notification for emergency services dispatch in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The Telecommunicator must complete the second level police dispatch training and become a Telecommunicator II within 9 months of being hired.
The next testing/interviewing window will be in July 2024 for a new hire class starting in September 2024
Position Information:
Five Factor Grade: 105
Start at Telecommunicator I-105 - $20.20
Upon successful completion of paid and required training, new hires will be promoted to a Telecommunicator II (106 grade) - $21.41/hour within the first 9 months of employment. Typically, a Telecommunicator II makes over $50,000 per year in the first year. Promotion opportunities in the 911 operations series include Telecommunicator III (107, $53,000), Assistant Supervisor (110, $64,000), and Supervisor (112, $72,000).
