Summary: Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and a member of their Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Architecture will lead our architecture team and be responsible for the overall systems architecture. The Head of Architecture will drive the creation and implementation of CTS technology roadmaps to ensure that product and programs align with the business objectives, customer needs and industry best practices. This is a pivotal role and has the technical oversight of the architecture and design of technology across CTS products and engineering deliverables. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction.Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. The role will require both domestic and international travel.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic architectural leadership and guidance to the architectural team, setting architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
  • Provide leadership of technical subject matter experts, direct and indirect team(s), including 3rd parties (may include cross functional technical experts).
  • Create and implement architectural roadmaps that align with our strategic direction for product development and program engineering deliverables that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Enable architectural design excellence by analyzing current structures and redefining internal efficiencies with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to customers directly and through your team, understand their architectural needs and requirements and provide strategic guidance and recommendations to support their business needs.
  • Establish governance processes and standards to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency in architectural design and delivery. Identify and mitigate architectural risks and challenges, proactively addressing issues that may impact timelines, budgets and quality.
  • Define, educate, and enforce engineering practices to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities, minimizing handoffs.
  • Champion a customer-centric approach to architectural design engineering, leveraging user feedback and data insights to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and manage the team, and provide clear direction on goals and objectives. Provide regular feedback and manage performance to achieve individual and team goals. Drive a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, fostering creativity, experimentation, and learning.
  • Develop the next generation of talent, coach, and mentor talent.
  • Lead change management activities through the formation of formal networks to drive the adoption of the new process and procedures. Provides training, support, and guidance to diverse stakeholders to ensure successful implementation. Act as coach and mentor to the team enabling a growth mindset across the team.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones, and manage resources effectively. Mitigate risks and resolve issues that arise. Review performance metrics to understand the program performance, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for stakeholder management, builds and maintains strong internal and external relationships to understand their needs and requirements, and enables two-way feedback to ensure that the capture process end to end meets their needs.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities.
  • May be assigned additional duties and responsibilities from time to time.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in engineering or related field; MBA preferred
  • 10 years of experience in engineering design and development.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in senior engineering roles with responsibility for significant aspects of product and program engineering design.
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecture design principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strategic thinking and vision, with the ability to translate business objectives, not architectural solutions.
  • Prior experience of working in a similar industry, in a solution and program business.
  • Excellent leadership and team building abilities with a focus on mentorship, and empowerment, and able to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams toward a common goal.
  • Passionate about innovation, technology, and driving positive customer experience.
  • Strong influential leadership style with a focus on enabling high performance and result-orientated culture.
  • Strong knowledge of global industry and compliance standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence outcomes with strong negotiation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, and creative and can work closely in a team environment with other departments and individuals at all levels in the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
