CSWI w/Subsidiaries is Hiring an Estimator I Near Wichita, KS

Position Summary

The Estimator I is Balco’s main point of contact for customers for bid activity in our direct markets. This role evaluates the scope of a project and prepares estimates and pricing for all phases of a project from inception through an approved working budget.

Responsibilities

(With appropriate support and guidance from management on takeoffs, estimates, and quotes)

  • Prepare takeoffs and material estimates as required per the bidding contract documentations
  • Make special pricing for custom systems as needed
  • Create project specific notes to identify the needs of a project
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) during the bidding stages of the project
  • Foster and grow relationships with internal and external customers
  • Attend meetings with customers, reps, peers, and management as required
  • Perform other duties as needed

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of construction industry practices and sales processes
  • General ability to read, interpret, and understand building plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to negotiate and work in the best interest of the company
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate in a professional manner
  • Strong organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite products (Word, Excel, Power Point) and industry specific software
  • Proficiency in basic math

Experience

(Candidate should have experience in one or more of these areas)

  • Experience in an Estimating role or similar in a construction-based field preferred
  • Experience in a role where creation of bids and proposals were a main job responsibility preferred
  • Familiarity with contractual requirements and best practices in the construction industry preferred
  • Experience using E-Takeoff, Building Connected, JDE or similar systems preferred

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration or similar field preferred

Other Requirements

  • Physical - This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
