Responsibilities

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Create Cost Estimates and Project / Program Budgets for design-build and/or construction projects.
  • Develop and present baseline and updated project budgets, cost projections / estimates-at-completion, and other cost analytics.
  • Review, analyze, and comment on baseline contractor payment schedules and breakdowns.
  • Create independent cost estimates for Change Orders / Additional Work Orders.
  • Assist in Change Order / Additional Work Order negotiations.
  • Review contractor-submitted cost proposals for and create cost comparison documents.
  • Attend program progress and schedule meetings.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in planning, estimating, monitoring and project controls for transportation, rail transit, aviation and water/wastewater construction.
  • Alternative project delivery methods such as design-build, progressive design build or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge in use of HCSS HeavyBid, Sage Timberline, or other estimating application.
  • Strong computer skills with thorough knowledge of construction industry cost estimating, budgeting principles, practices, and construction means and methods applicable to the heavy civil /transportation and rail transit field of work.
  • MS Office knowledge (Word, Excel and SharePoint) preferred.
  • Strong organizational ability and good communication skills

Salary: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
