CS3, Inc. is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Bartlett, TN

The Assistant Controller will oversee the transaction accounting functions for CS3. The position is responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of project and service transactions, monthly transactions process close, and ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures are met.

The responsibility for transaction processing accounting and certain state tax compliance have been performed by the CS3 Business Unit ("BU") co-founder and a third-party CPA. The Assistant Controller position will allow the co-founder to retire and the bring state tax compliance inside the BU.

Responsibilities include project and work order costing and billing, depreciation, G/L, inventory control, internal controls, payroll, and cash management. This role will report to the Controller at CS3.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
You will have responsibility for providing transactional accounting process and analysis to support the business in managing its performance in addition to ownership over the transaction accounting, and internal control environment. Specific areas of activity and ownership include:

  • Accounting and Reporting:
    • Month End Transactions Process Close: responsible for running an accurate and timely close, month end journal preparation/ review, account reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting.
    • Oversees all general ledger, accounts payable, billing and collection, payroll, and fixed asset activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions and compliance with internal policies.
    • Transition and management of various state Sales and Use tax compliance and reporting. This responsibility is currently managed outside of the BU by an external CPA. The Assistant Controller is responsible to bring the responsibility and management of State Tax Compliance and Reporting in house.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Review, document, implement and communicate the enforcement of correct and appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with GAAP.
    • Driving improvements to financial and operational controls in the context of a project-based business utilizing percentage of completion (POC) accounting.
  • Management:
    • Provide guidance, training, and assistance for the BU’s seven (7) transaction accounting personnel to ensure that reporting and compliance
      objectives are achieved while supporting talent development initiatives and performance.
    • Identify potential process efficiency gains and assist in the design and implementation of efficiency improvements.
  • Ad-hoc requirements – supporting the BU Controller or Corporate Controller, with any ad-hoc reporting or requests. Such requests may include system
    implementation/enhancements, ad-hoc business analysis/ modelling, local tax reporting and compliance, acquisition, and integration support.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance and a CPA License (preferred).
  • 5 years in accounting leadership roles.
  • Public accounting or experience working in a private equity owned company preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-project-based company, preferably in Construction, Engineering, or other project-based industry experience.
  • Experience with M&A, Due Diligence and Integration in an acquisition environment preferred, or similar demonstrated process improvement and change management experience.
  • Systems savvy with implementation experience and proficiency preferred.
    • Proficiency in G/L, business intelligence and reporting tools preferred
    • MS Office suite proficiency required.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
