Crystal Lake School District 47 has an opening for an Elementary Art Teacher, beginning the 2024-2025 school year. The goal of this position includes teaching basic and advanced art skills through planning and supervising an art program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions and student projects that inspire creative expression.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Effectively teach skills, knowledge, and artistic attributes through courses in general art, using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, curriculum guides, and other appropriate learning activities
• Demonstrate art concepts by the use of artistic equipment, sketches / paintings / models and other instructional aides
• Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty in order to contribute to the total development of the students
• Facilitate engaging art instruction and activities for optimum participation and learning
• Use individual or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of a variety of learners and age groups
• Instruct students in the proper use, care, and safe handling of art equipment
• Provide safe storage and proper use of materials and equipment
• Maintain inventories and order supplies and materials
• Encourage creative expression and inspire creativity through classroom lessons
• Maintain records for the purpose of assessment

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
• Elementary Education K-9, Self-Contained
• Art Endorsement

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, organization and maintain a positive attitude
• Physical requirements include, sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials
