Job Description

Crum & Forster provides specialty and standard commercial lines insurance products through our admitted and surplus lines insurance companies. Operating out of our corporate offices in Morristown, New Jersey, and ten regional offices, we distribute our products through approximately 1,500 authorized retail and wholesale brokers across the United States. We are looking for innovative, talented, and self-motivated individuals who are interested in working with a cross-functional team focused on implementing and supporting a CAESAR Data Warehouse (i.e. Enterprise Data Warehouse).

What you will do for C&F:

  • Defining acceptance criteria, quality standards, and metrics for the current task/project or LOB.
  • Working with all stakeholders to ensure that the quality metrics are reviewed, closed, and agreed upon.
  • Make the QA team aware of the Quality matrix and resolve all the queries.
  • Create a list of milestones and checkpoints and set measurable criteria to check the quality on a timely basis
  • Defining processes for test plan and several phases of testing cycle.
  • Planning and scheduling several milestones.
  • Ensuring all development tasks meet quality criteria through test planning, test execution, quality assurance and issue tracking. Work closely on the deadlines of the project
  • Keep raising the bar and standards of all the quality processes with every project. Set processes for test plan reviews and ensure that test plans get reviewed by all stakeholders.
  • Review test strategies and see that all the various kinds of testing like unit, functional, performance, stress, acceptance etc. are getting covered
  • Set Quality standards for the teams in various new testing technologies in the industry. This may include finding new strategies for automation testing and improving QA outcome.
  • Building up a team and choosing the right number and skill set of resources. Assign various tasks to the QA engineers as per the strength of an individual.
  • Setting up goals and objectives for QA team members Motivating team and taking informative quick decisions.
  • Finding and arranging behavioral, functional, and non-functional training needs for the team
  • Coordinate activities which enforce quality improvements Resolving conflicts among team members.
  • Maintaining cordial relationships between cross-functional teams. Negotiating with upper management with influential skills to buy in the ideas. Ensure that a highly motivated environment is created in the team.
  • Ensure that we celebrate or acknowledge each achievement in the team.
  • Reviewing Jira tasks, time off, and tempo for each team member, and taking appropriate actions accordingly.
  • Should be the focal point of contact for the QA team for all the escalations related to testing and Quality assurance.
  • Sending crisp and clear status to the higher management.
  • Creating and defining risk contingencies and plans.
  • Seeking feedback from management when and wherever necessary
  • Understanding and defining areas to calculate the overall risk to the project.
  • Creating strategies to mitigate those risks and take necessary measures to control the risks.
  • Awareness of all the stakeholders of the various risks Create backup plans for all the testing strategies.
  • Have team meetings at the appropriate times to understand & review the current risks and motivate the team to resolve the same
  • Ensure the team is focusing on automation along with manual testing. Push the team for continued innovation.
  • Ensure that several testing and validation processes are improved continuously.
  • Motivate the team to improve efficiency so that the time saved can be used in different work areas. Challenge the team continues to move toward automation for all daily works
  • Publish the improvements to all the stakeholders and depict the improvements using data points.
  • Create quarterly milestones for any long-running improvement projects and set deadlines for the team to complete them.
  • Work with the development team to ensure that the quality engineers get the necessary support for tasks like automation or debug builds/issues where ever and whenever possible.
  • Ensure several quality improvements related considerations are part of the project planning and development cycle

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent. Strong Data Warehouse & Data Quality fundamentals. 5 years of experience in software development/testing.
  • Must be experienced in Data Warehousing Projects with good knowledge of ETL testing. Strong in SQL, RDBMS, and DW concepts.
  • Experienced in validating Reports/Dashboard on tools like Tableau, MS Power BI, etc. Great attention to detail with a result-driven test approach.
  • Self-starter; strong drive, bias-to-action, commitment with strong work ethics
  • Willingness to take on big challenges and own the results from brainstorming to execution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Able to influence others effectively.
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance experience (manual/automated testing) with a proven track record of improving Data Quality by implementing QA best practices within organization SSIS & MSSQL experience (intermediate or senior level) Experience in using QA automation tools
  • ETL process knowledge; Knowledge of data warehouse testing procedures
  • Knowledge of Insurance Data & its processes
  • Data validation experience between on-prem & cloud (i.e. hybrid) architecture. Familiarity with cloud computing and the data ecosystem on Snowflake.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $74,900.00 to a maximum of $170,300.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs
