Lead the donor marketing program for USDEV (US Development) and provide fundraising expertise and counsel to the individual ministries of Cru. Manage both the agency and client functions of the program and help build capacity within Cru for accomplishing all of our donor marketing efforts.

For this role:

  • Lead the donor marketing team of professional staff, helping each flourish and make their best contribution to the Cru mission.
  • Develop an annual direct marketing strategy and manage its execution. Lead the strategic and creative planning process for corporate donor marketing within USDEV.
  • Provide fundraising consulting, strategy, on-site training, and expertise to other Cru ministry leaders and development departments
  • Manage an internal Cru marketing agency by providing all “agency” functions necessary to accomplish development objectives and create significant cost savings.
  • Develop income and expense pro-form as for overall program and individual strategies, including both expense and income projections for each strategy.
  • Provide final approval of all marketing pieces.
  • Expand the corporate donor base through effective donor acquisition efforts. Stay current with upcoming donor acquisition and cultivation strategies and test/employ as appropriate.
  • Manage both internal and external budgets to ensure that appropriate fundraising percentages are achieved and net income to ministry is maximized
  • Find and negotiate agreements with cadre of outside freelance writers, layout artists, data managers, etc. with needed expertise to execute marketing plans as needed. Lead and manage a freelance team to accomplish objectives.
  • Evaluate and analyze overall direct marketing impacts and programs including dissecting results to determine the effectiveness of individual donor segments and make adjustments to future efforts to maximize response and net income.
  • Ensure that assigned team members have accurate job descriptions, personal development plans, and annual reviews.
  • Provide input to the creative process for every USDEV marketing and fundraising effort including the creative brief, attending all creative meetings, reviewing and editing copy and art to ensure each will accomplish objectives and are fairly and accurately describing the needs.
  • Lead a fundraising testing and learning culture within USDEV so results can be broadly shared within Cru ministries.
Experience and Skills:

5 - 7 years in fund development at a non-profit organization or marketing agency that serves nonprofits. Cru experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Bachelor’s Degree in business, management, or marketing
