REQUIREMENTS: ALL Applicants must be:

    • Must have own transportation to and from jobsite every work day (driver's license not required)
    • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools)
    • May be expected to travel where the project requires (multi-state opportunities)

Primary function of a Project Director: Provide overall management direction including managing multiple project teams and developing new business opportunities. Maintain a strategic outlook for overall alternate delivery performance. Promote, sell and set an example for Crowder Construction Company employees exemplifying the founding principles and core values on which Crowder was built. Held, at all times, to a standard consistent with our Company Mission Statement.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Safety and Risk Management

  • Provide proactive leadership.
  • Plan and estimate work with safety in mind.
  • Promote and inspect for compliance with Crowder safety regulations on the project.
  • Investigate potentially serious situations, implement corrective measures, and share information with others to raise safety awareness.
  • Ensure projects are adequately staffed with safety professionals.
  • Monitor the safety program throughout the project.
  • Immediately inform the Regional Manager of Safety and Risk concerns and issues.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate subcontractor and purchase order risk.

Financial Management

  • Monitor financial aspects of contracts including accurate:
    • Invoice review and approval including timely subcontract and vendor payment
    • Monthly Gross Margin Report
    • Post-construction cost review and reporting
    • Positive cash flow management
    • Timely billing
  • Review prime contract change orders.
  • Oversee project Profit & Loss reporting.
  • Monitor gross margin reporting and forecasting process. Ensure accurate forecasting.
  • Review the weekly labor reports. Meet with General and Project Superintendents to discuss crew sizes, production rates, methods of construction, etc.
  • Proactively manage contract terms & conditions with owners, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Implementation

  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Maintain a liaison relationship with client, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate construction activities including value engineering.
  • Identify and resolve major project issues through collaboration with all parties.
  • Hold Project Managers and Superintendents accountable.
  • Attend monthly project meetings.
  • Proactively review/ensure schedule maintenance.
  • Monitor development of the project schedule of values to yield positive cash flow.
  • Complete every project within time and budget.
  • Direct the accurate and timely procurement of the projects by:
    • Providing satisfactory subcontractor and vendor relations.
    • Approving and executing subcontracts & major purchase orders.
    • Finalizing T&C negotiations through collaboration with the Corporate Contract Administrator.

Business Development, Estimating, & Pre-Construction

  • Participate in industry conferences, including presentations.
  • Develop new business opportunities relative to a particular Client, group of Clients or geographical area.
  • Monitor relationship with client, sub-contractors and vendors to facilitate construction and enhance future opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong positive relationship with engineers and owners during and beyond the life of the project.
  • Provide actual cost information to estimating to enhance more accurate future bids.
  • Participate or direct proposal teams for alternate delivery work.
  • Monitor estimates for accuracy and risk assessment.
  • Lead pre-construction efforts or alternate delivery projects.

Leadership

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with:
    • Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and/or Co-Ops
    • Superintendents and all field personnel
    • Estimating, Business Development, Employee Development and all other administrative staff
    • Owners and engineers
    • Vendors and Subcontractors
  • Develop Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Co-Ops and through coaching, training and mentoring.
  • Support and participate in Crowder YOUniversity and the training programs it provides.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4 year engineering degree or equivalent plus 10 years of extensive experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required.
  • Extensive understanding and strategic view of cost management.
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain licensing and certifications as necessary.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Display superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Primavera, Microsoft Office and financial software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet Crowder standards for Driver’s Authorization.
