Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares and serves meals in an efficient and timely manner, using standardized recipes and following cycle menus/therapeutic diets. 
  • Maintains the daily statistical log of all meals prepared and served. 
  • Follows First in, First out procedures. 
  • Packages, labels, stores, and dates food and beverages as necessary and within proper expiration guidelines. 
  • Organizes and prepares for the following day’s menu, anticipating frozen foods and foreseeing necessities. 
  • Provides proper and professional direction to Nutrition Services Aides, as necessary. 
  • Prepares and delivers snacks and meals for patients. 
  • Cleans, stores, and utilizes all equipment safely and properly. 
  • Answers phone calls and properly communicates and documents calls and request. 
  • Checks and records sanitizer concentration and food/beverage temperatures. 
  • Operates a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Cleans kitchen as outlines in policy and procedure. 
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Nutrition Services equipment and requests training when necessary. 
  • Performs and/or delegates other duties as deemed necessary for the continued viability and success of the department and the organization as a whole. 
  • Maintains a clean, safe and sanitary department in conjunction with OSHA standards and Crossing Rivers Health policy. 
  • Utilizes appropriate channels of communication. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to policy, procedures, rules and regulations of Crossing Rivers Health, including all safety and disaster plans. 
  • Attends and actively participates in staff and employee meetings, committees, etc.
  • Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned to effectively meet the needs of the patients, the department, and the organization as a whole.

Requirements

Education

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience

  • Previous experience in the food service industry and handling large quantity food preparation is preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Completion of Certified ServSafe Course, within the first year of employment that is to be repeated as necessary to remain current.
