CROSBY ELECTRIC is Hiring an Electrical Helper Near Montgomery, AL

Primary Purpose: Electrical Helper is a nonsupervisory position responsible for installing, testing, locating, and repairing electrical wiring, system and fixtures.

Typical Duties:

  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Install switches, relays, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
  • Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to understand written and oral directions
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill

General Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands:

Must be able to -

  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring and be able to see naturally or with correction, to safety perform designed tasks.
  • Use hands and arms to reach for, handle and manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and other climbing devices.
  • Carry tools and equipment.
  • Work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions.

Environmental and Weather Conditions:

Working Conditions -

  • All types of environmental and weather conditions including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather and high winds.
  • Environmental conditions may include areas where toxic or caustic chemicals or fumes are in use or being stored.
  • High noise intensity levels.
  • Close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
  • Working at high, exposed levels as well as close, cramped quarters.
  • May be required to operate or work in proximity to powder-actuated tools such as Ram-Set or Hilti guns, etc.

*Employees will not be subjected to hazardous conditions without the proper training and safety equipment relative to the work being done.
