Position Overview:

The Quality Control Technician position is responsible for testing concrete and aggregates while following safety and operational guidelines. This position will also perform tests on concrete in its plastic state, sample and perform aggregate gradations and maintain courteous customer relations. This is a full-time position that requires overtime through peak season, reports to the Quality Control Director, and has no supervisory responsibility.

General Duties and Functions:

  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects
  • Be aware of and familiar with the Company Handbook
  • Consistently keep the office clean and organized to promote professionalism, safety, and efficiency
  • Actively participate in any recommended or mandatory training
  • Additional duties as assigned by management, as this job description is non-exhaustive
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours)

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Communicate with the Quality Control Director and/or Manager for daily duty assignments
  • Communicate with the Quality Control Director and/or Manager on Quality Control related items (issues, trends, projects, etc.)
  • Complete site visits to production facilities to monitor the quality of products
  • Troubleshoot, identify, correct, and prevent quality control issues
  • Perform field and lab testing on aggregates and concrete
  • Maintain Quality Control recordkeeping
  • Maintain Quality Control field and laboratory equipment
  • Maintain good relations with plant personnel, customers, engineering technicians, supervisors, etc.
  • Maintain a daily diary of Quality Control operations
  • Maintain safe practices at all times and report injuries to management as necessary
  • Understand mix designs, water/cement ratios, batching equipment, batching processes, Quality Control documentation, etc.
  • Assist plants during production
  • Adjust concrete as needed to meet specifications
  • Train production personnel on basic concrete testing procedures such as air, slump, temperature, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test
  • State DOT Certifications
  • ACI certifications
  • OSHA Training
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Basic level of reasoning abilities (i.e. Meeting deadlines, Prioritize Company and customer needs, serving as a leader to both peers and direct reports)
  • Strong mathematical skills (i.e. Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide)
