MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Summary/Objective

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance operations at all Agency locations. This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising all maintenance activities, ensuring the operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Directly supervisor maintenance staff, housekeeping staff and contractors ensuring that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and on budget.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance of machinery and equipment.
  • Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform repairs, and recommend solutions to prevent future issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, inventory, spare parts, and supplies. Coordinate the procurement of necessary parts and materials.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Providing training and guidance to maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Identify training needs and opportunities for professional development.
  • Assist in the development and management of the maintenance budget. Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with others in the agency to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the maintenance department. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize maintenance processes.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position oversees the maintenance/housekeeping department and contributes to the success and completion of duties assigned.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, one is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may require overtime, nights and weekends depending on the project and urgency.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Employee must possess a valid driver’s license; liability insurance coverage and have an automobile to provide transportation as needed.

Required Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is preferred with on the job experience verified through references. College education and courses are preferred. Experience in supervising others is preferred.

A Criminal Background, Motor vehicle, and an Abuse check, as well as a pre-employment physical, are required.

1. A valid driver’s license and a driving record sufficient to qualify for agency automobile coverage.
