We are seeking a mission-focused Systems Engineer to support and contribute to our government customer’s success in San Diego, California!

Responsibilities

As an Systems Engineer, you will work with platforms and mission applications for intelligence and defense customers with domain emphasis in targeting; weaponeering; missile-centric product generation (navigation products); Geospatial Intelligence; Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR); and/or Mission Management.You will apply Systems Engineering principles to the support the requirements analysis, design, development, and verification of targeting and weaponeering software. In addition, the qualified candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team of 5 – 10 and have a hand in the entire systems engineering process.

Tasks include:

• Working with customers, end users, and other contractors with the Department of Defense (DoD) community in the understanding and development of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for intelligence, targeting, weaponeering, navigation products, and/or mission planning
• Writing capabilities, features, and exit criteria for new and modified capabilities
• Defining/documenting baseline requirements which may include analysis of customer/systems requirements; establishing and documenting software derived and decomposed requirements
• Preparation of engineering documentation (Software Requirements Specification (SRS), Requirements Traceability and Verification Matrix (RTVM), Software User's Manual (SUM), Software Test Plan (STP), Software Test Description (STD), Training Materials, etc.)
• Working with development team in establishing systems design including use cases/user stories, preliminary and detailed design, system architecture, user interfaces, and internal and external interfaces
• Collaborating with developers; providing feedback and insight to development teams on requirements and testability
• Developing, documenting, and executing test plans and procedures for all phases of testing from integration to full system integration testing; defining verification and validation methods
• Participating in and preparation of materials for technical reviews (System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Formal Qualification Event (FQT)) and various other technical exchange meetings
• Recommending and developing new, innovative, and efficient process improvements to current testing processes and methodologies including use of automated testing approaches

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills, & Technologies

• Four (4) or more years of related experience
• Bachelor’s degree a engineering/technical discipline
• Experience with requirements development, requirements management systems, system design of complex systems, incorporating new designs and systems into existing platforms, designing and documenting user interfaces, and developing technical documentation
• Systems engineering activities, processes, and methodologies (Agile, waterfall, etc.),
• Experience with requirement specifications, verification, developing/executing test cases
• Engineering documentation (requirements and design artifacts, test plans)
• Demonstrated technical writing skills
• MS Windows Operating environment; Microsoft Office products
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, users, and contractors from the DoD communities
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment

Desired Experience, Skills & Technologies

• Experience with Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), targeting, weaponeering systems such as (e.g., TNT, CGS, MIDB, JTT, JWS, DIEE, IMEA)
• Experience with image data and imagery exploitation systems such as SOCET GXP
• Experience with operational aspects of Navy/AF targeting, weaponeering, navigation products, and/or mission planning systems
• Familiarization with C4ISR systems
• Experience with intel and weapon systems software (e.g., GCCS, MIDB, JTT, JWS)
• Maintaining/managing requirements traceability between requirements and test cases
• Requirements management tool (e.g., DOORS)
• Knowledge of issue tracking systems (e.g., ADO, JIRA)
• Security Certification
• Experience with the MBSE process and tools (e.g., MagicDraw , Cameo)
• Experience establishing and working with Agile teams and Program Increments
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Project milestones and technical reviews

Pay Rate

• The projected compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $145,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Criterion Systems considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
