The Health Teacher will have a deep understanding of health education principles, a commitment to promoting the well-being of students, and the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons. They will be responsible for instructing high school students on various health topics, including physical and mental health, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, and sexual education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive health education curriculum in alignment with state and national standards.
• Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate various teaching methods to address diverse learning styles.
• Deliver informative and interactive health lessons to high school students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate the needs of diverse learners.
• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and behaviors among students.
• Provide information on nutrition, exercise, and stress management to help students develop lifelong health habits.
• Address current health issues and trends relevant to adolescents.
• Teach age-appropriate sexual education, covering topics such as reproductive health, contraception, and the importance of consent.
• Foster an open and respectful environment for discussing sensitive topics related to sexual health.
• Educate students about the risks associated with substance abuse and addiction.
• Implement prevention programs and strategies to discourage substance use among high school students.
• Design and administer assessments to measure student understanding and progress.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians on academic performance.
• Stay informed about current trends and research in health education.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of health education principles and current health issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
• Committed to working with under-served students.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• State teaching certification in Health Education.
