Crisp Regional Health System is Hiring a Pharmacy Cashier Near Cordele, GA

Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Cashier is an active member of the Retail Pharmacy department that assists the pharmacy staff in the sale of prescriptions and over the counter (OTC) products to customers. The Pharmacy Cashier also helps with answering the phones and maintaining the OTC inventory.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Age:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Education:

Requires a high school diploma or a GED state certification.

  • Experience:

Requires up to three months of work-related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:

Requires and maintains a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Motor vehicle report required upon hire and reviewed annually.

Requires and maintains registration with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 90 days of hire.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Greets and assists customers in a timely, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Refers all questions concerning medications to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Is proficient in the use of the retail pharmacy point of sale (POS) software.
  • Processes prescription and OTC sales, validating customer information as required and referring questions concerning all medications to the pharmacists.
  • Validates customer ID and receives pharmacist approval for OTC pseudoephedrine (PSE) sales.
  • Keeps the walk-up and drive-thru window areas neat and presentable to customers.
  • Maintains will-call in an organized manner, hanging prescriptions in alphabetical order as they are bagged and pulling return to stocks.
  • Understands the pharmacy workflows to be able to triage customers and evaluate wait times.
  • Receives walk-in prescriptions from patients and processes them for intake.
  • Has basic knowledge of the functions of the retail pharmacy prescription processing software and is able to check workflow statuses of prescriptions that are in process.
  • Effectively communicates patient needs to pharmacy staff, ensuring they are aware of patients requesting to wait on medications needing to be filled.
  • Effectively communicate estimated wait times and statuses of prescriptions that are in process to patients, ensuring that they are made aware of medications on order or backordered.
  • Maintains the OTC inventory, restocking items as they are received in orders, rotating inventory, and keeping it in an organized fashion, and ensuring that expired items are promptly removed from inventory.
  • Processes AR account payments, both in person and by phone.
  • Assists with answering the phones, referring questions to the appropriate pharmacy staff as required.
  • Performs closing tasks, including running end of day POS reports, and counting down the tills.
  • Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team promoting positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with customers, providers, and staff in all departments of the organization.
  • Complies with CRHS and department safety, infection control, and performance improvement initiatives and sterile procedures, ensuring the delivery of products and services.
  • Presents a professional image to CRHS patients, customers, and staff members.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

  • Understands and upholds the rules set in place by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
  • Greets patients in a friendly and professional manner and processes sales of prescription, OTC, and PSE items in a timely manner, validating patient information as required.
  • Knows to consult with pharmacy technicians and pharmacists when questions arise and always refers questions and concerns about medications to pharmacists.
  • Effectively communicates with pharmacy staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner, both in person and by phone.
  • Maintains OTC inventory in an organized manner and assists with maintaining prescription and supply inventories as needed.
  • Complies with all standards of care, safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates reliability as measured by compliance with the CRHS Time and Attendance policy.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and adherence to all safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA standards.
  • Promotes teamwork with the entire staff as well as other contacts within the hospital, as measured by observations of Manager and co-workers.
  • Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education.
  • Adheres to the CRHS Standards of Behavior as measured by observations of staff, as well as outside and other inside customers.
  • Verbalizes all core competencies of the unit and department.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements including the National Patient Safety Goals as observed by peers, supervisor, and all members of the healthcare team.
