Position Title: SANE Nurse
Position summary:
A SANE nurse, or Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner nurse, is a highly specialized healthcare professional dedicated to providing comprehensive care and forensic evidence collection for survivors of sexual assault. Their duties include conducting medical assessments, preserving forensic evidence, offering emotional support, and collaborating with law enforcement and
advocacy organizations. SANE nurses must be licensed registered nurses, hold SANE certification, possess clinical experience, and have strong communication and ethical skills. Their role is essential in delivering compassionate care, supporting survivors through a traumatic experience, and contributing to the legal process when
needed.
Supervises day to day SANE program services, meeting operational requirements and assuring that the safety and care planning needs of all clients are met. Oversees and assures smooth operation of program services, regularly evaluating effectiveness, appropriateness, service delivery and cost efficiency. Trains, develops, and evaluates staff or volunteers when assigned. Responsible to provide medical and SANE services for victims of sexual assault and strangulation crimes.
Ability to work frequent weekends and evenings.
Essential Functions | Scope of Services:
 This position provides direct work product for a minimum of 112 hours a month and additional minimum of 192 on-call hours per month, to include overnights, and weekends.
 Assists with training Volunteers, Interns, and provides Sexual Assault information to new employees during orientation.
 Coordinate effective interagency collaboration to generate a coordinated response team to meet the needs of adolescent and adult sexual violence survivors.
 Staff the community SART program and its activities, including scheduling, planning, and facilitating at least quarterly SART meetings.
 Maintain regular communication with SART members to ensure consistent participation in SART activities.
 Coordinate SART training.
 Oversight of our community based Sexual Assault program, to include coordination of on-call calendars for SANE and Crisis Response Advocates.
 SANE room inventory to include, program materials, snacks, and office supplies.
 Submission of reimbursement for SAFE’s completed to the state through SAER system.
 Submit data reports to Chief Program Officer on Sexual Assault Program to meet all deadlines.
 Submit all invoices to SANE Manager within 72 hours of exam completion.
 Interviews and selects new staff in collaboration with Chief Program Officer
 Leads orientation and continuing training of SANE staff.
 Assures that staff understand and follow Crisis Center standard operating policies and procedures, client protocols, rules, and guidelines.
 Perform forensic sexual assault examinations, on location, when called to respond to such location as determined necessary by Crisis Center Advocate.
 Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
 Present for performance of the aforementioned duties with a non-judgmental, open-door policy to address personal and professional issues related to SANE practice.
 Maintain personal liability and automobile insurance, as well as valid STATE RN and driver’s licenses.
 Provide CCCC with all required documents needed to practice in contracted facilities.
 Treat all sexual assault survivors with compassion, respect, and allow them to make non-biased decisions on care provided.
 Attend Peer-Reviews for all acting SANE Nurses.
 Adhere to all administrative, clinical, and employment policies and procedures on file with the SANE Program or hiring agency.
 Commit to cover minimum number of shifts, holiday coverage, and other scheduling requirements as determined by the SANE program (if needed).
 Record all services in data management system, this includes but not limited to exams and daily tasks.
 Participate in professional development as determined by the SANE program, including staff meetings, conferences, and in-services.
Additional Responsibilities:

Qualifications/Skills:
 Effective verbal and written communication
 Familiar with basic office software and computer technology
 Works well within a team and collaborative environment
 Must be flexible, adaptable, and take initiative
Experience and/or Education:
 Bachelor’s degree in nursing along with valid state RN
 2 years plus of SANE nurse
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Must maintain personal liability and automobile insurance, as well as valid STATE RN and driver’s licenses.
Time Commitment
This position provides direct work product for a minimum of 112 hours a month and additional on-call hours per month, to include overnights, and weekends. Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, weekend, or evening hours to meet job requirements.
