Crimson Wine Group LTD is Hiring a Harvest Lab Technician Near Walla Walla, WA

At Crimson Wine Group (CWG), we are the guardians of 1,000 acres of pristine vineyards, iconic estates, forests, and wildlife habitats along the West Coast. Our success stems from the wide range of perspectives that our team brings to every single one of our wines – from vine to bottle and beyond. Our portfolio is cultivated to elevate any occasion and to simply make life better.

Established in 1988, Seven Hills Winery is proud to be among the founding estates of Walla Walla Valley. As pioneers who first championed the region, our heritage includes longstanding relationships with the most renowned growers in the Northwest and a deep knowledge of the land. Our focus is crafting Merlot and Cabernet-based wines that authentically reflect their places of origin, and our estate Seven Hills Founding Vineyard represents the first significant plantings of Bordeaux varietals in Walla Walla Valley. We’re housed in the historic Whitehouse-Crawford Building in downtown Walla Walla.

Position Summary:

We’re seeking a seasonal lab intern for the 2024 Vintage. The position will focus on, but not be limited to, the chemistry and analysis needed for winemaking. From fruit sampling to monitoring fermentations, the winery lab is a focal point and a crucial resource for harvest operations. Enology or previous lab experience is preferred, but not required, as we will give practical training on Standard Operating Procedures for analysis, record keeping, and all areas of the winery.

An ideal candidate will demonstrate an attention to detail, be able to focus on tasks independently, and have clear and direct communication skills.

 Duties include:

  • Learn and follow the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Pull samples from tanks, bins and barrels.
  • Daily Fermentation Monitoring
  • Yeast and Nutrient additions
  • Wine chemistry analysis
  • Maintain Lab and cellar cleanliness at all times.

While this position is lab focused, we are a small team and there will be opportunities to participate in all areas of cellar operations, including fruit receival and processing, cap management, cleaning tanks and equipment, operating the press, and barrel work. Team players who are enthusiastic about winemaking and want to jump in are always welcome. Position will start Early August and run to the natural conclusion of harvest, which is usually around mid-December.

All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to all federally and state protected classes. The projected pay range for this position is $18-21 per hour. This is the projected compensation for the position however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
