Description

Are you looking for a rewarding career with an organization that puts people first? Credit Union of Georgia is looking is growing our mortgage department and looking for a talented mortgage loan officer for our Cobb County branches. 

The role of the Mortgage Loan Officer will encompass both mortgage origination and processing duties. This individual has the responsibility of verifying and evaluating loan documentation, requesting loan services, and preparing loan file packages for underwriting review. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for upholding and adhering to Credit Union of Georgia brand standards including following all the steps of our unique member journEASE experience and to Engage, Ask, Solve, and Excite and deliver top level member service every time.
  • Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts) to meet established credit union production goals. 
  • Receive and screen loan applications; request and analyze loan services (credit, appraisal, flood, and secondary market automated underwriting findings). Gather financial data. Submit qualified applications to underwriting for approval; provide the underwriter with additional information as required. 
  • Serve as liaison between member and underwriter double-checking all essential guidelines and conditions related to each loan before and after approval. Ensuring that supporting documentation and records are accurately prepared according to credit union policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain successful internal and external member relationships by adhering to loan processing and servicing time constraints. Provide prompt responses and solutions to all member service needs while maintaining financial privacy requirements. 
  • Each member of the team should be able to communicate efficiently and openly to achieve goals in a collaborative, positive manner. Team member will demonstrate flexibility and serve as back-up in other roles, as needed.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of mortgage lending and servicing. In addition, maintain knowledge of Credit Union of Georgia products and services to look for cross-sell opportunities. 
  • Involvement in daily branch operations and business development activities in a manner that provides exceptional service to current and potential members.
  • Directs and participates in public and community relations activities to promote the Credit Union. Serves as liaison with external community involvement and internal member relations.
  • Promotes Credit Union awareness in the community and identifies opportunities for membership growth.
  • Participates in conjunction with Business Development and community outreach programs to establish and maintain relationships that will enhance the growth and recognition of the credit union.
  • Complete additional training when assigned to stay abreast of compliance, guidelines, servicing, and market changes.
  • Comply with all Credit Union policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations, including but not limited to, the SAFE Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient technical skills

  • Willingness to learn new concepts to grow and advance.

  • Be an ambassador for exceptional internal and external member service. 

Experience

  • Two years of similar or related experience.
  • Prior lending, underwriting, and credit experience preferred.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is preferred. 
  • Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) throughout their employment.
