The Job at a Glance

Contacts members to collect payments on past due consumer loans (auto, real state, signature, etc.) and credit card accounts to minimize Credit Union 1 losses and delinquency. Actively promote CU1's vision statement by providing financial services for success, exceeding the members expectations with solutions and Be Great, Be Engaged, Be Open, Be Nice.

A Typical Day

  • Recovery of accounts that are 11 to approximately 180 days delinquent, utilizing a servicing-based collections philosophy
  • Contact members by telephone, email and mail for collections of delinquent loans and credit cards for purpose of analyzing accounts and providing solutions to our members
  • Negotiate payment arrangements to assist members in resolving past due accounts
  • Obtain payments to loans and credit cards
  • Gather and track information-promises from members and hold members accountable regarding payment arrangements to bring loans current
  • Recommend cars for repossession to management
  • Recommend loans for monthly charge off to management
  • Work with members on loan extensions and modifications
  • Collect forms and information while working with members directly on disputes
  • Process payment protection claims and follow up with insurance company when appropriate to assist member with paperwork or questions
  • Have a general working knowledge of bankruptcies
  • Maintains confidentiality with all account information
  • Follow all company policies and applicable laws
  • Maintain Credit Union 1 records in compliance with audit & retention standards
  • Perform various search functions using third party software to locate member
  • Build member satisfaction and loyalty through elite, best-in-class service
  • Place and receive outbound and inbound collection calls

What We Look For

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in collections, banking, or customer service, preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience in auto loan collections is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Individuals with a positive attitude that are motivated to contribute to a team and company culture
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy and quality
  • Keyboard and computer skills
  • Able to work Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm CST / 6am - 3pm PST
  • Ability to learn how to educate credit union members effectively and efficiently on the proper management of their loans
