Creative Information Technology India is Hiring a TECHNICAL WRITER Near Falls, VA

Role and Responsibilities
  • Serve as an active participant on the project team to fully understand the project requirements.
  • Enhance technical verbiage in current Standard Operating Procedures and Frequently Asked Questions documents on the MD CRIS website and in storage.
  • Create recommendations from past experience from a technical writer standpoint specifically in regards to modernizing a system.
  • Assist with structure of templates and processes from a TW standpoint.
  • Assist with the development of documentation for solicitations (e.g., RFPs, TORFPs, Sole Source, etc.).
  • Draft Major IT Development Project (MITDP) deliverables as required by the Information Technology Project Request (ITPR) document (e.g., project charter, RACI chart, project management plan, solutions roadmap, interface control document, etc.)
  • Perform the needed interviews of stakeholders, technical research, and review of existing documentation to fully understand the subject matter which is to be documented.
  • Documents include but are not limited to project plans, procurement documents, manuals, user guides, quick reference guides, business correspondence, training guides and curriculum, troubleshooting guides, reports, forms.
  • Work with project managers to document the scope of work, TO Contractor requirements, and evaluation criteria for a solicitation.
  • Establish, keep current, maintain, and ensure documents follow SBE documentation standards.
  • Provide ongoing organization and maintenance of the project’s documentation libraries.
  • Coordinate and ensure that SBE’s requirements for the retention of documents are met.
  • Perform proofreading of documents.
  • Perform other technical writing related tasks as assigned.
Preferred Qualification
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or similar discipline with a focus or courses completed in technical writing, journalism, web writing, or in writing theory.
  • General Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in this area.
  • Specialized Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in preparing and editing documents, including technical documents. Also includes research for applicable standards.
  • Proficient working knowledge of at least one of the writing style guidelines (e.g., ACS Style Guide, The Business Style Handbook, or the APA Style).
  • Proven ability to translate technical terminology into non-technical documentation and vice-versa. Documentation samples will be required. Documentation should represent a proven ability to create documentation that has a consistent arrangement, is clear and concise, has a focus on targeted audience(s), and where applicable a document that is reusable.
  • Experience working on the development of the following documents: included but not limited to:
    • project documentation,
    • instructional manuals,
    • web content that includes online help,
    • procurement documentation,
    • user manuals,
    • forms,
    • test scripts, and
    • quick reference guides.
  • Proven ability to understand the technical subject matter well enough to be able to create the required documentation.
  • Proven background using several methods for gathering documentation content that includes interviews, collaboration, observation, and research.
  • Must be an excellent communicator.
  • Must be an effective proofreader.
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with and persuade all levels of management.
