Located within the Department of Student Assessment and MTSS in the Office of Teaching and Learning, Tutor Corps is an initiative focused on high-dosage, targeted tutoring in Math for grades 6-12 and Reading for grades K-5 to address unfinished learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is part of the district’s multi-year commitment under the Moving Forward Together initiative which is supported by federal American Recovery Plan (ARP) Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funds.
Job Summary:
CPS Tutor Corps Tutors will be staffed at various schools across the district in order to provide targeted academic and social/emotional support to over 10,000 students in communities most impacted by the pandemic, accelerating their success as they return to in-person learning through a holistic, equity-based approach. Through their efforts in the classroom, Tutors will support CPS’ goal of ensuring that all our students are proficient readers by the end of second grade.
This part-time/temporary position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 20-30 hours per week for an anticipated period of 12 months beginning in May of 2023 and ending in June of 2024. Due to the part-time/temporary nature of this work, this position is not eligible for health benefits. This role will report to the principal at the tutor’s placement school.
