COVEY is Hiring a Community Support Specialist Near Oshkosh, WI

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for directing and coordinating programs focused on assisting Covey clients to build full, meaningful lives within their community. Programs within this department emphasize developing social skills, daily living skills and independent living skills. All services are provided in a manner that is congruent with and demonstrates a commitment to Covey’s mission and core values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain program procedures and guidelines that support the highest quality standards that align with Covey’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Identify and evaluate risks associated with the program and take steps to control these risks.
  • Facilitate program offerings that focus on developing the following skills: Independent Living Skills, Mobility Skills, Social/Emotional and Personal Development, Communication Skills, Community Access and Integration
  • Develop, assess, and track participant goals and create progress reports in participant database. 
  • Build and maintain a trusting and positive relationship with participants, their support system and the community at large.
  • Follow all communication guidelines as outlined by program procedures. 
  • Participate in efforts to strengthen and build partnerships with local organizations.
  • Pass prescribed medication to participants per their ISP.
  • Provide transportation to participants as needed or directed.
  • All Covey employees are mandated reporters. If abuse and/or neglect is suspected contact the Program Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
1. Two years of course work in the health, social or human services field, teaching, or equivalent experience.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills 
3. Proficient knowledge of technology 
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality
5. Ability to support and guide program participants with patience, professionalism, and integrity
6. Must have a valid driver’s license within 3 months of hire
7. Must be able to pass an ongoing criminal and driving records check
8. CBRF certification to pass medication within 60 days of employment, all other training completed within 90 days of employment
9. Must be at least 18 years old
