PURPOSE

To provide treadmill exercise stress testing to assess cardiovascular function and capacity. Works in collaboration with cardiology providers to administer tests following a specified protocol. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization supported.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs treadmill exercise stress testing for busy cardiology department.
• Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
• Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
• Sets up and verifies status of equipment.
• Records and calculates all necessary parameters including manual blood pressure.
• Provides a safe and encouraging environment for cardiology patients.
• Recognizes abnormal ECG tracings.
• Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
• Regular and dependable attendance.
• Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or GED. One (1) year of experience in exercise/treadmill stress testing and EKG.

Preferred: Bachelor’s in Exercise Science or related field. Experience in an outpatient cardiology practice

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Familiarity with document imaging and workflow systems.
• Strong knowledge base in cardiovascular physiology, exercise physiology. ACSM guidelines and ELK interpretation.
• Ability to perform job functions, troubleshoot problems and make decisions without direct supervision.
• Must be flexible in daily assignments and able to cross-cover within an assigned work group.
• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instruction and must be able to communicate with co-workers to perform duties as part of a work group.
• Must display a high level of accuracy, critical thinking and organization.
• Must be able to carry 20 pounds and lift 5 pounds overhead.
• Strong computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.

Certificate/License

• ACSM-CEP or ACEP-EPC Certification and current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card. Will be required to maintain a current certifications during employment.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. Three days will be at the Cedar Park B clinic and two days will be at the Northwest Hills clinic.
