The Tractor Technician III performs maintenance and repairs on class 8 equipment.
· Perform repairs on class 8 equipment within employee current skill level
· Inspect equipment during the repair process to determine if additional repairs are necessary
· Perform all jobs within the expected time unassisted
· Make satisfactory comments to document work performed on all repair orders
· Perform preventative maintenance services
· Perform Department of Transport Truck inspections
· Perform safety systems checks
· Perform wheel seal replacements
· Perform wheel bearing and race assemblies
· Repair and replace diesel particulate filters and reset ash count
· Perform break inspections and repairs
· Perform tire inspections and replacements (including mounts and dismounts)
· Perform basic batteries and warranty testing
· Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs and use a multi-meter
· Repair and replace starters and alternators
· Install and repair satellite systems
· Diagnose, repair, and replace seats and components
· Diagnose, repair, and replace radios and components
· Troubleshoot and repair heat, air ventilation, and cooling systems
· Diagnose, remove, and replace driveline and u-joints
· Diagnose, repair, and replace charge air system components
· Diagnose and repair anti-lock braking systems
· Diagnose, repair, and replace safety systems (including cameras)
· Diagnose and repair fuel systems (excluding injectors and pumps)
· Diagnose and repair after-treatment systems (including selective catalytic reduction)
· Diagnose, repair, and replace power steering
· Own the tools required to perform the position responsibilities of this level excluding those provided by the company
· Understand, communicate, read, and write the English language
· Lift 50 lbs. on a consistent basis and 95 lbs. on a frequent basis to mount tires
· Certified under section 609 of the Clean Air Act by an EPA-approved program
· Proficient at glass replacement
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid driver’s license required
