Covenant Living at the Samarkand is Hiring a Health Information Coordinator - Full Time Near Santa Barbara, CA

We Are Inspired to Serve. Join us! Part of a nationwide family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities is seeking a Health Information Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing coordination and supervision of the Health Information department in accordance with standard policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing and is service oriented in nature. The Health Information Coordinator is entrusted with the following responsibilities: Prepare health record and room for new admissions according to policies and procedures. Maintain a permanent register of resident admissions and discharges. Maintains accurate resident census. Check documentation of nursing, social services, activities, dietary, and rehab team members to assure completion of records. Review on an ongoing basis, each resident health record for timeliness and completeness of documentation according to facility policy and state and federal regulations. Inform physician and staff of any deficiencies on records. Maintain quality assurance standards by performing regular audits and scanning. Qualifications: This position requires a high school education. Two years of college education is preferred. Intermediate level of proficiency in data entry, word processing, email and computer programs desired. Effective communication skills. Genuine compassion for the elderly. Must possess good interpersonal skills, project a friendly personality, and understand customer service and team concepts. Ability to deal with residents in a pleasant and professional manner is required. Ability to be accurate and work with high confidential information. Must have ability to work with limited direction, take initiative, and plan and carry out responsibilities.
